Accompanying us in the photo are recently appointed Deans and Directors General of business schools and universities from around the world. They came to ESADE this week as part of the 2011 International Deans Programme, an activity jointly organised by the Association of Business Schools (ABS) and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Their visit was aimed at sharing the main initiatives being carried out in their business schools, and also at acquiring an overview of our strategic goals and operations at ESADE.
The visit started with a tour of our Campus in Sant Cugat, where our Dean, Alfons Sauquet, informed them of ESADE’s main strategic goals for the coming years. Alfred Vernis, Executive Director of our Business School University Programmes Unit, gave them an overview of the ESADE MSc programmes, and Jaume Hugas, Executive Director of our Executive Education Unit, presented them with the main activities and challenges that executive education faces today. After a stop at ESADECREAPOLIS, where the Director General, Santi Benedé, gave them a tour of the facilities, we received them at our Barcelona Campus. We shared perspectives on the future challenges facing us and our business schools and the plans we have for the coming years; overall, the encounter was highly successful and could open new doors for solid academic relationships.
These new Deans and Directors General, as indeed the existing ones, are greatly challenged in heading their institutions: striving for academic excellence and cutting-edge research while adapting to the global changes of the XXI Century. As in any demanding circumstance, we will all, no doubt, go through hard times but the successes and new achievements we seek will surely make all difficulties worthwhile.
