Projects come to life and flourish like never before when the people involved make them their own. This has certainly been the case with Alumni Giving Back, which, ten years after its launch, continues to thrive thanks to the desire of ESADE alumni in the private sector to volunteer their time and skills to support non-profits.
The idea of offering knowledge to make the world a fairer, more sustainable place is one of ESADE’s core values, and it can be seen in the school’s unflagging efforts to promote social leadership. Alumni Giving Back offers an increasingly wide range of activities in this area.
Among other things, the initiative holds a monthly Film Forum featuring social documentaries to encourage reflection and social debate. Additional forums have also been launched to engage alumni in the professionalization of the third sector.
Special mention should also be made of the Pro Bono Consultants programme, conducted with organizations and participants from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Lleida and Girona, among other cities. The aim is to offer free consulting services to third-sector organizations. Some 239 alumni are participating in the 9th edition of the programme, volunteering their knowledge to 25 NGOs. The numbers speak for themselves: to date, 150 third-sector organizations have benefited from Alumni Giving Back services, which have been made possible by the collaboration of more than 1,000 alumni volunteers on different consulting projects.
Catalunya Radio will be featuring the important work being done by Alumni Giving Back in a programme on 4 February, to be recorded at ESADEFORUM. In honour of the occasion, several organizations devoted to job placement for people with disabilities, child services and sustainability and the environment that have collaborated with ESADE alumni have been invited to attend.
In recognition of Alumni Giving Back’s efforts, I encourage everyone to join them on 4 February. Click on the following link to find out how: http://esade.me/1wDtJM3
