Excellent news to close the academic year

158 MSC post2 Excellent news to close the academic yearThis month, ESADE received an international honour that I am particularly thrilled about: our MBA was ranked among the top 10 programmes in the world for entrepreneurs by the prestigious Financial Times. Thanks to our steadfast support for entrepreneurs, ESADE was ranked #3 in Europe and was the only Spanish business school to make the global top 10.

This result is very important because it reflects the tireless efforts by many parts of our organisation to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit in our classrooms.

In making this recognition possible, a vital role was played by ESADE Alumni, which was ranked #3 worldwide in support for entrepreneurs (the measure of assistance provided by alumni networks in company formation). Similarly, facilities such as EGarage, an emblematic space designed for the cultivation of new start-ups, and ESADECREAPOLIS, an innovation ecosystem for students and companies, played key roles in making ESADE the #5 school in support provided for entrepreneurs (the measure of how much the schools support and promote the creation of new companies).

Alumni Giving Back, committed to helping alumni collaborate with the third sector

14548967612 23f3df9c23 b 300x200 Alumni Giving Back, committed to helping alumni collaborate with the third sector

Projects come to life and flourish like never before when the people involved make them their own. This has certainly been the case with Alumni Giving Back, which, ten years after its launch, continues to thrive thanks to the desire of ESADE alumni in the private sector to volunteer their time and skills to support non-profits.

The idea of offering knowledge to make the world a fairer, more sustainable place is one of ESADE’s core values, and it can be seen in the school’s unflagging efforts to promote social leadership. Alumni Giving Back offers an increasingly wide range of activities in this area. Read the rest of this entry »

ESADE Ambassadors in Saudi Arabia

Arabia Saudi Eugenia1 ESADE Ambassadors in Saudi ArabiaLast month, I visited Saudi Arabia as part of a delegation accompanying King Juan Carlos and three Spanish ministers: Ana Pastor, Minister of Public Works; Pedro Morenés, Minister of Defence; and José Manuel Soria, Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism. The main objective of the trip was to promote Spanish infrastructure-development companies that work in Arab countries. Among my traveling companions were the leaders of Abengoa, Acciona, Airbus, Indra, Ferrovial, Isolux Corsán, Navantia, Talgo and other companies. Read the rest of this entry »

Economic perspectives in New York

eugenia1 300x300 Economic perspectives in New YorkEarlier this month I travelled to New York to attend the 2014 Spain Economic Forum. The event was organised by the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce, an institution that, since its founding in 1959, has expanded its reach to become a key player in the economic relations between the two countries. At the Spain Economic Forum, I had the opportunity to share ideas with several members of ESADE Alumni who are now successful professionals in the United States.

I was proud to see how ESADE-trained professionals such as Daniel Landaluce (Lic & MBL‘99), Chair of the Organising Committee for the Spain Economic Forum, have become involved in the organisation of international forums where proposals for global change are debated. Daniel is also the President of ESADE Alumni’s New York Chapter and a Director at PwC in New York. He participated in the Spain Economic Forum alongside prominent figures such as José Manuel Soria, the Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism; Javier Fernández-Cid, CEO of Mapfre; and Mónica de Oriol, Chair of Círculo de Empresarios and an ESADE graduate.

In the photo, I am accompanied by (left to right) Daniel, Laura Muñoz (Lic & Master ‘83), Jason Pileggi (Full-Time MBA ‘04), Jacek Grebski (Full-Time MBA ‘08) and Javier Serrano (Full-Time MBA ‘02).
